Organic Skincare Bar 1

New Services at the Organic Skincare Bar at The Natural Pharmacy

An organic skincare routine is one of the best things you can do to promote the appearance of your skin, and it offers other perks as well. A recent study suggests that using natural ingredients on your skin can address hyperpigmentation and irritation, while another found that it can help reduce skin damage caused by the sun.

There’s so much emphasis on skin care products that it’s easy to forget that healthy skin comes from the inside. Complete nutrition is essential for supporting the health and appearance of your skin. Seek foods with plenty of antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, biotin, and vitamins A, C, E, and K. Vitamin A, C, E, and K all support skin tissue growth, regeneration, and encourage smooth-looking skin. Antioxidants help protect skin against damage from free radicals. Even biotin, also known as vitamin B7, supports healthy skin, hair, and nails.

You are what you eat, and the food you put in your body affects how your skin looks and feels. Equally important is using organic products on your skin. That’s why we have created our new Organic Skin Care Bar at The Natural Pharmacy.

Most people view face masks as an optional and time-consuming. However, I am here to show you a few different ways you can incorporate face masks as a weekly treatment to help prolong the health of your skin and how face masks can boost the efficacy of your daily skin care regime.

The first item I want to address is how we think about face masks. A lot of people I talk to about using a face mask on a regular basis typically say that it is too much work or too time-consuming. And if you don’t understand the benefits of face masks and how to choose the right one for your skin type and personal convenience, you will continue in that same mindset. Instead of calling the product a face mask, begin referring to it as a face treatment. Once you realize how amazing masks are for your skin you’ll never want to skip a weekly treatment!

We offer a number of amazing face masks at the Organic Bar and each is custom made. All masks contain organic ingredients made with USDA Grade plant essential oils.

Anti-Aging Bentonite Clay Mask

Clay minerals typically form over long periods of time from the gradual chemical weathering of rocks, usually silicate-bearing, by low concentrations of carbonic acid and other diluted solvents.

Bentonite clay also called Montmorillonite, is a very popular healing clay that also cleanses the body. This clay is made from minerals such as iron, sodium, calcium, potassium, and magnesium, formed from volcanic ash. The name of the clay (bentonite) comes from the biggest deposit of Bentonite clay that is located in Fort Benton, Wyoming.

Adding water to the clay gives it a negative electric charge, which in turn, removes toxins from the body. It works both externally and internally.

Clay works both internally and topically to help detox and clarify. If you desire clear, fresh and vital skin.

Detox Charcoal Mask with Aloe Vera Gel

Activated charcoal is an all-natural product which won’t add to your body’s chemical load. It’s also less likely to cause adverse skin and body reactions than conventional beauty care products.

Hydrating Tumeric & Manuka Honey Mask.

Manuka honey and turmeric will leave your skin super hydrated and glowing. in particular, Manuka helps to oxygenate pores, which draws out bacteria—kicking acne to the curb.

Acne Activated Charcoal: Coconut and Tea Tree Oil Mask

This mask cleans out the pores and impurities without stripping your skin of its natural oil.

Hydrolyzed Collagen with Probiotics

This is a wonderfully hydrating mask with peptides and minerals. The Collagen in our Organic Mask is hydrolyzed or broken down into smaller molecules that can be absorbed. Collagen production decreases as we age, causing your skin to become thinner, drier, weaker and less resilient.

It doesn’t matter if someone has had face work done, you still want your skin to look it’s best!
This custom-made Collagen Mask with Probiotics and more can help boost your skin’s collagen density and slow down collagen degeneration. This is also a great way to hydrate your skin. So clean you can eat it!

Do I need to refrigerate my skincare probiotic products?

A lot of people are asking if Skincare Probiotics need to be refrigerated? The answer is, No. make sure your probiotics in your skin care is fermented! Live strains are put through fermentation, which then releases secondary molecules that are collectively known as probiotic-derived bio-actives. It’s these molecules that have been through the clinical testing to prove they mimic the action of live bacteria, in a more controlled environment, all while being stable!

The potential skin benefits is that they can strengthen the skin’s immune system to better defend against environmental stressors, which can exponentially speed up the aging process. The second benefit is their ability to stimulate a repair response in the skin, without injury, irritation, or inflammation. It’s important to know that harsh chemicals in skin care can cause a Ph disruption, which usually results in dry, red, irritated skin. Another great benefit of probiotic skincare is it keeps your skin’s Ph low which is what we want. Our skin’s Ph is 4.7, another reason to incorporate Probiotics into your skincare routine.

Keep your skincare simple and be sure to read your labels. Usually the shorter the ingredient list the better.

The “No Downtime” Medical Facial

Laurie Lombardi’s Healthy Skincare Tips

Are you taking the right steps to care for your skin? A good skincare regimen with a healthy lifestyle is the best way to slow the signs of aging. The skin is the body’s largest organ, why not make sure you are taking good care of it?

The Truth About Skincare Products

There are growing concerns about preservatives in health, skincare, and cosmetics.

Parabens, synthetic preservatives found in most skincare products, may exert serious adverse health effects including hormone disruption, organ system toxicity, reproductive toxicity, and infertility. What worries public health advocates is that while individual products may contain limited amounts of Parabens within safe limits set by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) cumulative exposure to the chemicals from several different products could be overloading our bodies and contributing to a wide range of health problems.

The problem with standard skincare is the FDA doesn’t need to approve what ingredients are added to personal care products. If a company says an ingredient is safe, that’s basically deemed good enough. That’s why I use all-natural essential oils and ingredients in my skincare products.

Lock in Moisture: Hydration, Hydration, Hydration

There are quite a few humectants and Hyaluronic Acid is one of them, which is why we use it in our Eye Care Cream. The reason we like to “add” humectants to our moisturizing creams is due to its ability to attract water like a magnet.

Hyaluronic Acid is one such ingredient; that locks moisture onto the surface of the skin, keeping it healthy and moist. This ingredient can hold anywhere between 600 and 1000 times its own weight in water, perfect for dry or dehydrated skin. We only use Pure Pharmaceutical Grade Hyaluronic Acid in our products.

Everyday Skin Health

Because of its greasy nature, oil is the black sheep of the beauty world. But just as there are good oils for your skin the right natural oils can keep your skin moisturized, smooth, and glowing. It can even fight breakouts- without any slimy residue.

A more modern approach to skincare is to use oil to our advantage: fight oil with oil. The right combination plant, botanical & essential oils have become increasingly popular in the past decade because they provide a natural way to take care of your skin. It’s a total myth that you cannot use oil-based products to treat oily skin. In fact, oil dissolves oil and can be quite effective in treating oily skin.

Here’s another fact, they also have hydrating properties that make them appropriate for dry and sensitive skin, too!

Argan Oil

Some oils are heavier than others such as olive oil, Argan Oil when blended with the right combination of other oils, can work well. Tip: never use essential oils directly on your skin, they can be too concentrated and wind up irritating the skin.

Here’s why we use this amazing and nourishing oil in our BoTAM Moisturizer.

A lot of brands that advertise using Argan Oil (Moroccan Oil) are filled with silicone, artificial preservatives, dyes, fragrance and contain little actual Argan Oil. Argan Oil is produced from the nut of the Argan tree which only grows in Southwestern Morocco.

Argan Tree

Pure Argan Oil is an unprocessed oil and the nuts are hand-cracked between two stones, a technique they have used for centuries. Instead of being put through a machine, the raw kernels are hand-extracted from the hard shell, hand kneaded and then cold-pressed into the oil.

Argan Oil is chock full of Essential Fatty Acids, Antioxidants, Vitamins, (especially Vitamin A & E) and minerals that promote your overall health by moisturizing, softening as well as protecting your skin from sun damage free of harmful toxins and parabens.

Making Skincare the Old Apothecary Way

Message in a Bottle! L- Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) is not only necessary for collagen production and maintenance, but it is also a potent antioxidant that can neutralize free radicals in the skin. For example, when atoms are taken away from molecules in the skin, it causes damage to our skin’s DNA that can speed along skin aging.

We use 20% pure Ascorbic Acid in our Vitamin C Cream. When added to your daily skincare routine Vitamin C provides a range of benefits, from evening-out your skin tone, shielding skin from the visible impacts of pollution, significantly improving hydration, and keeping your skin looking younger, longer!

Tangerine is a natural astringent, it has antiseptic properties, it helps kill off germs in the skin and as a result, brightens the complexion. It smells wonderful and clean too!

Oatmeal & Lecithin Scrub. Gentle Exfoliation is very important to keep the skin youthful and dewy. Sloughing dead skin cells off daily is key when it comes to skin cell turn over and cleaning the pores. Be sure not to use anything too harsh which can irritate skin and upset the PH balance.

Digestive Health

Dr. Eric usually prescribes the supplement Magnesium to his patients. Magnesium is an essential mineral, it’s estimated that one-third of the population has a deficiency. There are many foods that contain Mg, but due to depleted soil nutrition and poor absorption, magnesium levels could still be low.

There are many types of mg, but Eric usually suggest either Mg Citrate or Mg Malate and he definitely has strong opinions on which Companies are superior in their absorption and how they’re made.

He recommends mg before bed, usually 2 capsules, but this will depend on the patient’s needs.

Mg Malate is a highly bioavailable mg chelate, which supports the metabolism and utilization of carbohydrates, amino acids, and fats for energy. You also get the benefits of Malic Acid which can help with muscle fatigue, leg cramps, it plays a vital role in supporting overall muscle performance.

It’s very important to be sure you’re choosing a good form of mg. Other cheaper forms are poorly absorbed.

The other form of Mg is magnesium citrate. Mg citrate increases the water absorption in your intestines which may help induce defecation. Constipation is a common digestive problem that can affect anyone. The dosage will depend on the patient’s needs. Eric is trustworthy and has the knowledge to treat you properly.

Mg also has many other benefits, heart health, blood pressure management, bone density (since it works with calcium, K2, and D), muscle control, and blood sugar regulation.

Activated Charcoal Uses & Benefits!

Not the Charcoal used in your Barbecue Grill!!
Barbecue Charcoal is loaded with toxins and, chemicals, and should never be consumed.

Activated Charcoal is a potent natural treatment used to trap toxins and chemicals in the body, allowing them to be flushed out so the body doesn’t reabsorb them. It’s made from a variety of sources, but when used for natural healing, it’s important to select activated Charcoal made from coconut shells or other natural sources. It’s used in emergency trauma centers across the world. In addition, it’s used to reduce bloating & gas, lower cholesterol, & treat bile flow problems.

NOTE: take activated Charcoal 90 minutes to 2 hours before meals, prescription drugs, and supplements. It can interfere with the absorption of nutrients, supplements and RX drugs.

Here are some other great uses of Activated Charcoal:

Skin & Body, working with Charcoal can be messy, so be aware if you’re using loose Charcoal on your face & body. It will stain your washcloths!

If you suffer from acne, activated Charcoal will help clean your pores out, fighting acne-causing germs, sucking out impurities and reducing inflammation. Whiten Teeth, yes activated Charcoal really whitens teeth! It works by bonding to many of the organic substances (food) that stains the teeth like coffee, red wine, nicotine.
